From Fear to Relief: I’m Finally Going Home, and I Bought Something for Myself

Today was a day filled with completely different emotions. It started with both me and my Pappa feeling like something wasn’t right, then came the happiness of hearing that I would finally be going back to India, followed by another shocking update that the Dubai trip had been extended.

But thankfully, I finally spoke about my situation, and that gave me some relief. And somewhere between all these emotions, I finally decided to do something I had been postponing for a long time—I bought something for myself.

A Good Sleep, But I Still Woke Up Tired

Yesterday night, I slept very early. I went to sleep at around 10 P.M., so technically, I had a really good amount of sleep. I woke up today at around 6:45 A.M., but strangely, I still felt tired.

I don’t know exactly why because I had slept properly. Maybe it wasn’t physical tiredness alone because mentally, I have been missing my Pappa a lot. Whatever happens throughout the day, that feeling of missing her is always somewhere inside me.

As soon as I woke up, I checked my phone and saw my Pappa’s good morning message. Since India is one and a half hours ahead of Dubai, she’s usually the first one to message me in the morning. I replied, “Good morning, Pappa. I’ll freshen up and call.”

After that, I freshened up and went downstairs. I sat there waiting for my Pappa’s call, but for some reason, I had a strange feeling inside me. I don’t know how to explain it, but I felt like something wasn’t right and that maybe today wasn’t going to be a good day.

Even My Pappa Felt Something Was Wrong

After some time, my Pappa called me, and we started speaking. Surprisingly, she also seemed a little dull today, so I immediately asked her what had happened.

She told me that from the morning itself, things weren’t going properly and she had a feeling that today wouldn’t go well. It was strange because I had also been feeling almost the same thing.

I started convincing her, telling her not to think negatively and that everything would be alright. I tried making her laugh because I didn’t want her to carry that dull mood throughout the day.

We continued talking about what had happened yesterday, when I would finally return, and obviously, about how badly both of us were missing each other. These missing conversations have almost become a regular part of our calls now because the distance is something both of us are struggling with.

Eventually, she reached her office, and it was time for us to end the call.

The News I Had Been Waiting to Hear

After ending the call, I continued sitting downstairs. After some time, one of my founders came there, and we started talking.

During our conversation, he mentioned something that immediately made me happy.

He said that by August 6, we would leave Dubai and go to Chennai, and after a few weeks, they might return to Dubai again.

The moment I heard August 6, I felt happy.

For the past several days, I had been confused about whether I would actually be able to return to India or whether something would change at the last minute. But this time, the information came directly from my founder, so I finally felt some confidence.

Okay. I’m going back to India.

That was enough to make me happy.

Breakfast and Back to Work

After some time, it was time for me to get ready for work, so I returned to my room. I put my eggs in to boil and, while they were boiling, I went to take a bath.

By the time I came back, the eggs were ready. I had my boiled eggs along with bread, finished my breakfast, and went downstairs again to start working.

Today, I actually had quite a lot of work to complete. I also had two calls scheduled, so I wanted to finish as much work as possible without delaying anything.

I started working on my tasks and also ordered my lunch earlier than usual.

Finally, My Pappa’s Lunch-Break Call

Meanwhile, I started waiting for my Pappa’s call because it was already around her lunchtime. I knew she would probably have finished eating and would hopefully get some time to speak with me.

And yes, after finishing her lunch, she called me.

I was super excited to speak with her.

We started talking about everything that had happened since our morning call. Even though only a few hours had passed, somehow we always have something to tell each other.

During the conversation, she told me that one of her colleagues was being terminated by the company. Because of that, she also started wondering whether she herself would eventually be converted into a full-time employee.

I immediately told her not to worry about it.

I told her that she would get converted to full-time, and even if something unexpected happened and she didn’t, I would help her find another job. I didn’t want her to unnecessarily stress herself thinking about something that hadn’t even happened yet.

Soon, her break was over, and it was already getting late, so she had to return to work.

Then Came the News That Shocked Me

After our call, I returned to my room to have my lunch.

And then, all of a sudden, I received another piece of information.

The Dubai trip had apparently been extended until the middle of September.

I was shocked.

Just a few hours earlier, I had finally felt relieved after hearing that we would leave Dubai around August 6. Suddenly, I was hearing that the Dubai work itself had been extended until mid-September.

My mind immediately went back to the same thought.

I cannot stay here that long.

I’m already missing my Pappa so badly, and mentally, the only thing running through my head is that I need to go home.

I Finally Spoke to My Founder

Instead of keeping everything inside and worrying about it, I decided that I had to speak.

I told my founder that I had several personal responsibilities back home and that I needed to return. Most importantly, I also explained that I had to be there regarding my grandpa’s leg treatment.

Thankfully, he understood my situation and agreed.

That gave me a huge amount of relief.

At least I had finally conveyed my situation clearly, and more importantly, he had accepted it. After worrying so much about whether I would be forced to stay longer, simply being able to explain my situation and receive a positive response made me feel much better.

After that, I continued with my work.

Explaining Everything to My Pappa

Eventually, it was time for my Pappa to leave her office, and we got another opportunity to speak.

During the call, I explained everything that had happened—the information about the Dubai trip being extended, how worried I became, how I approached my founder, what I told him, and how he finally agreed with my situation.

We continued speaking while she was travelling home, and just like that, time passed quickly.

Soon, she reached near her home, and her brother also came to pick her up.

It was time to say goodbye again.

We said bye to each other, and obviously, before ending the call, we said our “Love you.”

Something I Had Been Thinking About Since Morning

There was also another thing happening today.

Around 10 A.M., for some reason, my Instagram Reels feed suddenly became filled with smartwatches. Maybe the algorithm somehow knew what was running through my mind!

For quite some time, I had been thinking about buying a smartwatch. I wanted something that looked premium, could track things accurately, had useful features, and most importantly, had good battery life.

But every time I thought about buying one, I became double-minded.

Should I buy it, or should I save the money?

That question kept stopping me.

I had originally planned to buy an iPhone while I was in Dubai as well, but because of the money involved, I eventually decided not to buy it.

Then I started thinking about something.

I came all the way to Dubai, but I hadn’t really bought anything for myself.

Before My Mind Could Change, I Ordered It

At one point, I finally decided enough was enough.

Before my mind could change again, I immediately ordered the CMF Watch 2.

No more thinking.

No more opening the product page, closing it, calculating the money, and changing my decision again.

I simply ordered it.

I had already told my Pappa about it in the morning, and she also encouraged me. She told me that if I genuinely liked it, I should buy it because I hadn’t bought anything for myself after coming here.

The moment my Pappa herself said that, I thought:

“Okay, my Pappa itself has given permission. Then why should I hesitate?”

And that was it.

I bought it.

I Also Ordered a GPS Watch for My Sister

Along with my own watch, I also ordered a GPS tracking watch for my sister.

Actually, my original plan is to buy one for all three of my sisters. But instead of immediately buying three watches without knowing whether they’re actually good, I decided to order one first.

I’ll test it and see whether the GPS tracking and other features work properly.

If everything works well, I’ll buy the remaining two as well.

I think that’s a much better option than buying all three immediately and later realizing that the watch doesn’t work the way I expected.

And Finally, My CMF Watch Arrived

By around 7:30 P.M., my watch was delivered.

And honestly?

It was extraordinary.

The moment I saw it and started using it, I felt that premium experience I had been looking for. Considering what I paid for it, my first impression was that it was absolutely worth the money.

After being confused for so long about whether I should spend money on something for myself, I was finally happy that I had made the decision.

Sometimes, I think we keep thinking so much about saving money that we completely forget to enjoy even a small portion of what we’ve earned.

Of course, saving money is important.

But occasionally buying something that genuinely makes us happy isn’t necessarily a bad thing either.

Ending the Day With Fried Rice and a Little Relief

Later in the evening, I started feeling hungry, so we went to a nearby restaurant for dinner.

I had fried rice, and after finishing dinner, I returned to the room.

Looking back, today was actually an emotionally confusing day.

The morning started with both me and my Pappa feeling like something wasn’t right. Then I became extremely happy when my founder said that we would leave for Chennai by August 6. After that came another shock when I heard that the Dubai trip had been extended until the middle of September.

Thankfully, I spoke about my personal situation instead of keeping everything inside, and my founder understood and agreed.

That was probably the biggest relief of my day.

And somewhere between all of that, I finally bought myself the smartwatch I had been thinking about for a long time.

Finally, I Just Want to Sleep

Now, I’m extremely tired.

Even though I had good sleep yesterday, for some reason, I’ve been feeling tired throughout today. Maybe it’s because of everything happening mentally—the work, the uncertainty, missing my Pappa, worrying about when I’ll return, and all the thoughts running continuously through my head.

But at least tonight, I feel a little more relieved.

I spoke with my founder.

He understood my situation.

I spoke with my Pappa.

And I finally bought something for myself and genuinely liked it.

So yeah, that’s how today’s day went.

Now, I’m going to sleep because I’m extremely tired.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be another good day—and hopefully, every passing day takes me one step closer to going back home and finally seeing my Pappa again.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Good night, guys. Bye-bye!
