A Surprisingly Good Day: My New Watch, a New Friend, Pappa’s Laughter & a Tired Ending

Today was one of those days where nothing huge happened, but somehow, the entire day moved incredibly fast. From waking up excited to check my new watch, speaking with my Pappa, unexpectedly spending hours talking with a Tamil guy I met here, handling a mountain of work, and ending the day feeling physically exhausted, today was actually pretty good.

There was nothing particularly bad about today. In fact, most of it was filled with good conversations, work, laughter, and a few unexpected moments.

The First Thing I Checked After Waking Up

Yesterday night, I slept while wearing my new watch because I was really curious to see whether it would properly track my sleep, stress, and other health data. Since it was my first night actually testing these features, I was excited to see the results when I woke up.

The first thing I did in the morning was check the watch. I was genuinely surprised because it had tracked my sleep and other data in real time, and the results looked really accurate. That immediately made me happy because I felt like the money I spent on it was actually worth it.

After playing around with the watch for a little while, I checked my phone and saw my Pappa’s good morning message. As usual, we wished each other good morning, and then I told her I was going to freshen up.

Waiting for My Pappa’s Morning Call

After freshening up, I went downstairs and started waiting for my Pappa’s call. Soon, she called me, and we started our usual morning conversation.

We spoke about random things, shared what had happened, and had some fun topics in between. It was a simple conversation, but it went really well, and starting my morning by hearing her voice always makes the day feel a little better.

Eventually, my Pappa reached her office, which meant it was time for us to end the call. I said goodbye to her and then called my grandma back home.

I spoke with my grandma for some time, and after finishing that call, something unexpected happened.

Meeting the Tamil Guy Again

Yesterday, I had met a Tamil guy here who is originally from Madurai. Today morning, I happened to meet him again, and we started talking.

He owns some businesses, and that immediately made me curious. I wanted to know what kind of businesses he was involved in, how he had started everything, and what his journey had been like.

What began as a normal conversation slowly became a much longer discussion. We talked about his businesses, his experiences, how he started, and many other topics. Since I’m always interested in understanding how people build something of their own, I genuinely enjoyed listening to him.

For this blog, let’s call him by his name—Michael.

The funny thing is that our conversation ended up lasting almost two hours.

I hadn’t planned to spend two hours talking to someone in the morning, but the conversation was interesting enough that I didn’t even realize how quickly the time was passing.

Suddenly, I Had to Rush

Once our conversation ended, I realized I had to move quickly because I had work waiting for me.

I immediately returned to my room, took a bath, got ready, and had my breakfast. Within around ten minutes of getting ready, I already had a call scheduled with one of my colleagues.

That call itself went on for nearly half an hour.

And from there, my workday properly started.

Today wasn’t necessarily filled with meetings, but I had a lot of work. There were several tasks, dependencies, things that needed to be completed, and things that depended on other people.

Honestly, I don’t even know how time moved so quickly today.

I would complete one thing, move to another, check something else, and suddenly another hour had disappeared.

Lunch Break Means Pappa Time

Eventually, lunchtime arrived, and as usual, one of the things I was waiting for was my Pappa’s call.

She called me during her lunch break, and we started talking about how our mornings had gone. She asked me what had happened on my side, so obviously, I told her about Michael.

I explained how I had met him again, how our conversation somehow went on for almost two hours, what we had discussed about his businesses, and how interesting the whole conversation had been.

Even my Pappa was surprised that I had suddenly become friends with someone like him.

After speaking for some time, her break was coming to an end, and both of us had work to continue. So, we ended the call and returned to our respective work.

Work, Lunch and More Work

Meanwhile, I had already ordered my lunch, and eventually, the food arrived.

I finished eating and immediately returned to my tasks.

There wasn’t much of a break today. Once lunch was done, I continued working through all the pending tasks and dependencies I had.

That’s probably why today felt unusually fast.

There wasn’t much time where I was simply sitting and doing nothing. Either I was speaking with someone, attending a call, talking to my Pappa, eating, or working.

Before I properly realized it, the evening had already arrived.

One of Our Funniest Evening Calls

Soon, it was time for my Pappa to leave her office.

I asked her to leave, and once she started travelling home, we got on our usual evening call.

And today’s evening conversation was actually one of the funniest parts of my day.

I don’t even know how we reached some of the topics we discussed, but we laughed a lot. There were so many funny moments throughout the conversation, and both of us genuinely enjoyed the call.

After a busy day of work, laughing with her like that felt really good.

Eventually, she reached near her home, and her brother also came to pick her up. So, once again, it was time for us to end the call.

She went home, and I continued with my evening.

Meeting Michael Again

Interestingly, later in the evening, I met Michael again.

And once again, we somehow ended up talking.

We discussed a few more topics, and the conversation went well. At one point, he even asked whether I wanted to have dinner with him.

I told him that I would have dinner later.

After that, I finally returned to my room.

My Body Started Feeling Different

Even though the day itself had gone well, physically, I hadn’t been feeling completely normal since morning.

I don’t know exactly what happened, but my body started feeling extremely cold, and I was shivering. I felt chilled even though there wasn’t any particular reason for me to feel that cold.

Since I wasn’t feeling well, I took a Dolo tablet and applied some Vicks on my body.

I still had quite a lot of work pending, but at that point, I knew there was no point in forcing myself to finish everything tonight.

I’m already extremely tired.

Whatever is left can wait until tomorrow.

A Simple Dosa for Dinner

Since I wasn’t feeling well, I didn’t want to eat anything heavy tonight.

So, I ordered dosa for dinner.

I finished the dosa and decided that was enough. I didn’t want to fill my stomach with heavy food when my body was already feeling tired and uncomfortable.

After finishing dinner, I started writing this blog.

Good Night, Pappa ❤️

Meanwhile, before I ordered my dinner, my Pappa told me that her mother was nearby, so she couldn’t text me much.

It was already around 10 P.M. in India, so I told her not to stay awake unnecessarily. I asked her to sleep early and get proper rest.

So, instead of waiting until later, we said our goodbyes then itself.

Good night.

Love you.

And with that, our conversations for today came to an end.

A Good Day, Just an Exhausted Me

And yeah, that’s pretty much everything that happened today.

The morning started with me being excited about my new watch and realizing that its tracking was actually much better than I expected. Then came my morning call with my Pappa, my conversation with my grandma, and an unexpected two-hour conversation with Michael.

After that, the entire day disappeared into work, calls, tasks, lunch, and more work. Thankfully, I still got my Pappa’s lunch call, and our evening conversation turned out to be one of the funniest and happiest parts of my day.

The only negative thing is that physically, I’m not feeling completely well right now. My body feels cold, I’m tired, I’m sleepy, and I genuinely don’t have the energy to continue working tonight.

So, I’m not going to force myself.

The remaining work can wait until tomorrow.

Right now, after publishing this blog, I’m going directly to sleep and hopefully getting some proper rest.

Overall, today went well.

Nothing bad. Plenty of work. Some unexpected conversations. Lots of laughter with my Pappa. And one extremely tired me at the end of it all.

That’s it for today, guys.

Good night. See you tomorrow. ❤️
