Today morning, I woke up around 6:00 A.M. and wished good morning to my Pappa. Luckily, she was online at that time, so we had a small conversation. After some time, my Pappa started feeling sleepy, so I asked her to go back to sleep and take some rest.
After that, I also went back to sleep and woke up again around 8:30 A.M. I freshened up and had my usual breakfast—two boiled eggs and three slices of bread. Once I finished eating, my roommate asked me if I wanted to go swimming with him, and I agreed.
Starting the Day With Swimming
We both went swimming and spent almost one and a half hours in the pool. It was a good way to start the day, and after finishing swimming, I called my grandma. I spoke with her for some time before returning to my usual routine.
After that, something unexpected caught my attention. Unfortunately, I clicked on a notification from my Pappa’s Instagram account and noticed that one of her colleagues had sent her a reel. The reel indirectly seemed to convey a message like, “You’re beautiful.”
Immediately, I started wondering why he would send something like that to her, especially when he already knows that both of us are in love. For the past few weeks, I had already felt that this particular person’s behaviour seemed a little different, and seeing this reel made me think about it even more.
I took a screenshot and sent it to my Pappa. I told her that I felt it would be better if she didn’t mingle with him too much and maintained some distance because I had noticed a change in his behaviour recently. My Pappa told me that she wasn’t mingling with him much nowadays anyway.
After that, we left the topic and continued chatting normally about what was happening in our lives.
An Unexpected Video Call From My Pappa
Later, I went to take a bath and came back to sit down. Meanwhile, my Pappa suddenly video-called me because her mom was sleeping and her brother was in the bedroom, which gave her some free time to talk to me.
Honestly, I was so happy when I saw her video call.
The moment I saw her face, I fell for her beauty all over again. She hadn’t even taken a bath yet, but to me, she looked so beautiful—as if I were looking at an angel.
We spoke for some time and enjoyed those few moments together. After that, my Pappa went to watch a movie, and I also decided to watch one.
Movie Time and an Interrupted Sleep
I started watching a movie called Anbe Diana. The movie was going smoothly—not extremely good or bad, but somewhere around 50-50 for me. One of the main reasons I decided to watch it was because I had read some reviews saying that it was funny.
I watched around 20 or 30 minutes of the movie, but eventually, I started feeling sleepy. Instead of forcing myself to continue watching, I decided to take a nap.
About half an hour into my sleep, my phone suddenly started ringing continuously.
The calls were from my parents.
They called me almost eight times.
Initially, because I was in a deep sleep, I kept hanging up the calls. But when they continued calling repeatedly, I started wondering whether there was some kind of emergency, so finally, I answered.
The Fake News That Ruined My Sleep
When I attended the call, my parents sounded completely afraid and freaked out. Apparently, they had seen some news circulating through Instagram reels claiming that people were migrating or leaving Dubai and returning to India because of some kind of threat.
But it was fake news.
I became frustrated and started shouting, asking them why they were believing everything they saw on Instagram. I told them not to trust or forward news from Instagram reels unless there was an official announcement or confirmation from the government.
By then, my sleep was completely ruined, and so was my mood.
I developed a headache, so I went downstairs and had a cup of tea. After that, I called one of my friends and spoke with him for some time.
When I returned to my room, I wanted to sleep again, but unfortunately, I couldn’t.
Back to the Movie
Since sleeping wasn’t working anymore, I decided to continue watching the movie.
As I continued, the movie actually started getting better. I also noticed a tiny similarity between the love story in the movie and my own relationship—the girl in the movie was Christian, while the boy was Hindu.
That was probably the only similarity, so I wouldn’t say the entire story was related to our love story. Still, seeing that small connection made the movie a little more interesting to me.
After some time, it was finally time for us to leave because we had planned to go and watch a football match.
A Perfume Stop Before the Match
Before heading to the match, we had another plan. One of our colleagues was leaving for India the next day, so we decided to visit a perfume shop near Karama Centre to buy some perfumes.
We went to the shop, and my colleague selected the perfume he wanted. I managed to bargain and get him the perfumes for a lower price, and because I helped him get a good deal, he surprised me by gifting me a perfume of my choice.
Honestly, that was a nice little surprise.
A Taste of India at Saravana Bhavan
After buying the perfumes, we went to Saravana Bhavan for dinner.
We ordered dosa, and honestly, it was excellent. The taste felt almost exactly like the dosa we get back in India, and I really enjoyed it.
Once we finished our dinner, we started travelling towards City Centre in Dubai. Our next destination was VOX Cinemas, where we were going to watch the football match.
Watching Football Without Knowing the Teams
Here’s the funny part—I don’t really follow sports.
I didn’t know much about the teams, and I didn’t know who the players were either. I was basically going there blindly because the tickets had already been booked.
Once the match started, though, I actually found it quite interesting.
The atmosphere made the experience enjoyable, and I slowly started getting involved in the match even though I had no idea about the players. I thought Argentina might win because there seemed to be a lot of Argentina supporters around.
But unfortunately for them, Spain won.
Since I’m not a fan of either team, I had absolutely no problem switching sides. Spain won, so I simply joined in and celebrated Spain’s victory!
Finally, Time to Sleep
By the time the match ended, it was already around 2:30 A.M. in Dubai.
We immediately left and returned to our room at around 3:00 A.M. I was already exhausted after such a long day, so once I reached the room, I went to sleep as soon as possible.
And yeah, that’s pretty much how my day went.
It wasn’t an extremely special day, but it had a little bit of everything—an early morning conversation with my Pappa, swimming, an unexpected Instagram moment, a beautiful video call, movies, fake-news panic from my parents, perfume shopping, a delicious dosa, and finally, a late-night football match.
Some days don’t need to be extraordinary to become a memory. Sometimes, it’s just these small and random moments that make up our everyday life.
That’s it for today, guys. See you in the next blog. Bye-bye!
