Sleepless Night, A New Phone, and Another Day Closer to Home

Some days don’t bring anything extraordinary. They simply remind you how much little moments shape your day. Today was one of those days. It began with a sleepless night, continued with work, a few worries, a new phone purchase, and ended with another peaceful conversation with my Pappa. Most importantly, every passing day means I’m one step closer to going back to India.

A Sleepless Night

Last night wasn’t a peaceful one. My roommate was talking very loudly with his friends while everyone else was trying to sleep. Even after I asked him to move to the next room, the conversation continued there just as loudly. The noise kept disturbing my sleep, and I couldn’t rest properly.

Before sleeping, I texted my Pappa about what was happening. She told me not to worry and wished me good night. Even though I eventually fell asleep, it wasn’t a comfortable night’s rest.

Starting the Morning with My Pappa

I woke up early despite not sleeping well. The first thing I saw was my Pappa’s good morning message. I wished her back, told her I’d explain everything on the call, and went downstairs to begin my work.

A little later, she called me while leaving for the office. I told her everything that had happened the previous night, and she patiently listened to me. She also shared how her previous day had gone, and as always, we enjoyed our regular morning conversation until she reached the office. Before ending the call, we said our usual “Love you” and wished each other a good day.

Preparing for a Busy Day

After the call, I returned to my room, took a shower, prepared my usual breakfast of bread, and got ready for work. Today was important because I had a demo presentation scheduled, so I wanted to make sure everything was working perfectly before the meeting started.

Even though I was feeling a little tired because of the lack of proper sleep, I focused on finishing my pending tasks and preparing everything for the demo.

Buying the Samsung S26 Ultra

Meanwhile, my Chithi transferred the money to purchase the Samsung S26 Ultra. I immediately placed the order because we had already planned to buy it.

The phone itself cost around ₹1,07,000, but what surprised me was the forex charge. Around ₹4,000 was charged as a foreign exchange fee. I honestly didn’t expect the charges to be that high. Since the amount was deducted from my weekly allowance, I informed my Chithi about it, and she said she would transfer the forex amount back to me later.

Lunch Break and the Demo

Around lunchtime, my Pappa called me after finishing her lunch. We spoke for a while about how the day was going. She seemed a little quieter than usual, so I asked if everything was okay. She simply said that the day was going normally, and after speaking for a few minutes, we ended the call.

I then ordered lunch from a nearby Kerala restaurant because I wanted to reduce my daily food expenses. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t good at all. After eating it, I started getting a stomach ache, so I bought a bottle of Coca-Cola, hoping it would help me feel a little better.

Soon after, I attended my demo presentation. Thankfully, everything went well, and the demo was completed successfully.

Encouraging My Pappa

By evening, it was time for my Pappa to leave the office. She called me, but she was still working because she had some pending tasks. She seemed worried about her performance and whether the company would convert her to a full-time employee.

I kept encouraging her and told her not to overthink everything. I reminded her that if she continued working sincerely for the next couple of months, her managers would definitely notice her efforts. I wanted her to feel confident because I truly believe she deserves that opportunity.

Walking Home Together

Today, her brother wasn’t available to pick her up because he had gone out with his friends. So, instead of ending the call early, I stayed with her while she walked home.

By then, her mood had become much better, and our conversation became fun again. We laughed, shared random topics, and forgot about the stress of the day. Sometimes, simply talking to someone you love is enough to make a difficult day feel lighter.

A Late-Night Video Call

After reaching home, my Pappa called me again. She was already very tired, and while we were talking, she accidentally fell asleep for a moment while holding the phone. I smiled, asked her to get some proper rest, and ended the call.

Around 10:30 P.M., she video-called me once again after having her dinner. By then, I had also ordered my dinner and was exploring the new Samsung S26 Ultra to make sure everything was working properly before handing it over.

During the call, I came to know that my Pappa had started her periods today. I didn’t want her to stay awake any longer, so I gently asked her to sleep early and take proper rest. Her health is always more important than spending a few extra minutes talking to me.

Five More Days

Today wasn’t filled with any big adventures or exciting moments. It was simply another ordinary day of work, conversations, responsibilities, and taking care of the people who matter to me.

The only thought that’s constantly running through my mind is that only five more days are left before I leave Dubai and return to India. Every single day feels like one step closer to meeting my Pappa again, and that thought alone keeps me going.

For now, I’ll finish publishing today’s blog and head to sleep.

Good night, everyone. See you in tomorrow’s blog. ❤️
